I had recently acquired a wrecked '73 highboy that has an intact and running drive train. I had purchased the pickup sight unseen (with a cousins assurance that it was a good deal). I was happy to find most of the parts I was hoping it would have. I also found that it has a two speed intermediate transmission which bolts in between the bell housing and the manual transmission. I have heard a few different brand names mentioned in the forums but would like some help with a possitive ID of what I really have. Any information would be awesome. Also, I would like to know if the unit will bolt in without too much trouble in my '77 highboy. The donor pickup was a '73 highboy with a 360 ci motor. The pickup I would like to put it into is a '77 highboy with a '76 400 ci motor. Both pickups have the stock 4 speed manual transmission. I will put a few pictures in my gallery to help.
I was hoping that I would be able to use my current bell housing and transmission and put the unit between them. I was assuming that the '73 transmission would have the same bolt pattern as the '77. Not the bell housing to motor but the bell housing to transmission pattern.
Looking at the picture from the link above, it sure looks like a Ranger Splitter. I am now able to search the site for the correct name and I have already found a good bit of info.
