I have no idea on this subject becuase I do not own , or have been under a superduty yet. I would think that anybody who actually owns one would have more of a say in it though....
All I know is I have never seen a '99-'04 SD that had a O2 sensor after the cat. I am not saying that it isn't possible or that some of the trucks have them, but all the ones I have seen have never had one. My vic didn't have O2 sensors behind the cats either....
time you started reading about the many types of, and state mandated systems. with your truck being minus you are adding to the causeing of the rest of us down wind or east to have to suffer. nj, ny,ma. all use the cailf system standard on emmissions because of the states that don't inspect the tail pipe.
it's been a very long time since i have seen a cloged cat in my shop and i thank obd 2 for making my job easyier to do. todays cats are so efficient that something 4 inches long does what it took 6 times that size of back in 74. the biggest cause of failing is missfire and with todays obd 2 that flashes a light saying shut of motor.
by the way in nj if your truck or car is pulled over for a road side emmission inspection. they slide mirror under and look for them. then say 1 word . impounded. go to the state inspection they check the program codes of the ecm, chipped fail. no cats off the road. they even raise the hood.
thanks to states like yours i have to suffer east of them.
is that true that these motors dont have egr's? that seems hard to believe.
When I put headers on my 03' V10, There were two options. With EGR or without. I looked at the driverside manifold to look for the tap and tubing coming from it. There was nothing there so I did not have a EGR on my truck. I am in Massachusetts which has the "northeast emmission" stuff on the truck. Which is basically california emmission but just up in the north east.
