I've got a couple questions on bed liners. I am hoping to get a 78 79 Bronco soon, but just looking for the right deal right now, but when I do get one I'm wondering what type of bed liner would do the best job. I don't really want to go to someone to put a spray in bedliner because of the $$$ but I don't know what work I would be getting my self into if I was to do a do it your self bedliner. (I understand it would basically take about 1/2 a day to prep and aply, but how many coats would I use 2?? I was hoping find out what kinds works the best for the cash, Durabak, Herculiner, Rhinoliner, etc. I was planing on taking the seats out carpet and everything and doing a bedliner from the front floor pan to the tailgate. There is a shop in my town that said they will do it for $500 if I bring it to them stripped. I don't know what kind of liner they use but does that sound like a good price, or what?
Also wandering how Much would I need to do that much area, 1 gallon 2 , what company and how much per gallon?
I have been researching this project myself and so far I have found the Durabak looks to be the easiest to apply and deal with for the money. They also have a nice wide array of colors to choose from.
Check my gallery. I used Herculiner roll on to do my undercarriage. I just washed, and scuffed the surface...then applied the product. Only downside is the truck needs to sit for 24 hours, for the stuff to completely setup (did mine in a heated garage). Figure out the square footage. I think a gallon of the stuff will coat a 6.75' bed, and an additional quart for a full 8 footer. The gallon was $85? I forget the actual cost at the moment, but I think it was around that.
