Guages not resetting

Guages not resetting
Immeadiately following the installation of a CD changer my battery died. Replaced battery however, the guages no longer reset ( max out then return ) like they did prior to the battery replacement and CD changer installation. CD Changer installers verifed correct stereo system hook up. Any ideas??? Could the changer cause my electrical power load even when hooked up correctly??

Have you tried unplugging the new CD changer to see if your gauges start working? Perhaps there is something wrong with the changer and it is inducing noise/feedback into the power system that the gauges don't like.
Did the in-dash radio have to come out inorder to add the CD changer? Perhaps somehow a wire to the dash got wiggled loose.
Fuses?
These are all guesses ofcourse, but things I'd be looking at...
