Antenna Replacement
Newbie Question: I'm restoring my 78 F-150 and when it came to remove my antenna I can't seem to find out how to access the base of the antenna. I would like to replace it but I don't see how I can do that if there is no way to access the base.

On mine I had a rubber boot under the dash where the antenna wire came through. I removed the rubber and reached inside and there where two metal hinged legs holding the antenna against fender. So after unscrewing mast and the ring collar and base plate on outside. From inside I folded legs together and pushed out through the hole. I have no idea if mine was OEM on my 1979 F100; but I found a new one at Advance Auto just like it.

it also depends if it is oem... most replacements are claw like bolt on types, and quite tricky to remove sometimes... the oem is simple... like was said before, pry the chrome off and unscrew. also a tip: when you remove the antenna, if you plan on putting a different one in, leave the wire where it's at, cut it, and use it to fish the new antenna wire through the firewall
