I'm in the process of having a 351c that has been bored over 030 and crank and rods turned 010 rebuilt. My question is which cam to use. I'm sorta new to this and just want some good sound advise based on what I'm trying to build. The engine will be in a 65 f100 pickup. Not looking to race it but want some kick when I need it. I'm looking for that noticeable idle not a radical lope(truck shaker) I called JEGS and got a receipe for this engine. I know those guys are pretty smart and based on what I wanted, he gave this If someone with look at this and give me good or bad I would greatly appreciate it. I almost forgot to mention I have 370 gears in the rear with AOD tranny. Not a daily driver but an eye catcher... here are the ingredients Power Forge pistons part#L2379F30 pg 32-y the cam is an Energizer cam and lifter kit part # 133042 pg 41y, oil pump part#M84AHV, street billet distributor(accel) part# 52202 (pg) 106-y Just a few of the main pieces aside from the obvious parts for your advise and thoughts all this is found in the newest issue of JEGS. Help me out before I purchase. I running 2v heads with 600cfm carb (performer) as well as performer intake. My main corcern is the Cam. Will this give me what I'm looking for?????????? based on what I've said I've wanted. Or if there's anyone with a similiar interest and already have some together please write...
I'm not too hot on the cam details, but let me run this by you... Ask you machine shop guy what he recommends. You will need to take into account your intended use for the truck as well as what compression ratio you will be operating in. I have more info for the FE motors and can throw out one for you there, but again, check your builder...
