I have a set of 5 clearance lights for my 2000 F-250 SuperCab and want to fit them to match the factory layout. Does anyone know the dimensions for the standard clearance light layout i.e. distance from the sides and front of the roof, and spacing of the middle 3 lights?
Also, is it possible to wire these into the standard light switch or wiring so that they come on with the parking lights and headlights? If so, how?
I can't help you with the spacing, but there is supposed to be a single wire connector behind the right side kick panel for the clearance lights, that is live with the park or head lamps.
I was going to see if i can get it done by the dealer. Is that somthing that they can install. I mean drilling in the roof scares me,.Do you think thats something the dealer can handle. Or even yourself. Running the wires through the room and all. I would love to have clearance lights for my KR. thanks
Wow that link was very informative thanks alot. I do most of my own work but dont know if i can build up the parts to drill holes in the roof i wonder if the local dealer really knows what they are doing or if i would be better doing it myself. It might be worth the 300 bucks to let them worry about it and make sure its right and if its not i have someone to complain to. Plus it looks like in the photos it took an entire day. Might pay to get a ride to work that day and pay the 300 bucks to ford instead of loosing a whole day...hmm Great info though thanks alot
I just called 2 Dealers here in Fortlauderdale one being Sawgrass Ford the largest in the south so its said but neither would touch the truck for the lights hmm.. kinda sucks. Maybe will have to wait till next truck.
i talked to the dealer that does a lot with trucks and they had a aftermarket installer do all of their installs on the lights. so you might want to call your dealer and see who they use, then just go to them. it was 200 to get mine installed, bought the lights at the dealer and they sent me to the other place. worked out real nice!!
