Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone would know the answer to a question that is troubling me. I am doing a motor swap and it is becoming a large mix of parts and years. First off the motor and 90% of everything is from a Mustang 95GT. The vendor I bought my harness recommended to switch to a 89-93 Distributor, Computer (A9L) and Mass Air.
Here is the heart of my question. I am wondering if the Mass Air from the 95 would be better suited since it is a complete 95 motor, throttle body to oil pan. Will it even work with the early computer? I know the plug is the same,..but thats as far as I can tell.
I think that as long as the mass air sensor is sized correctly for the injectors (stock 19lb injectors, stock MAS) it shouldn't matter what year it is. When I bought my ProM for my 95 Mustang, all they needed to know was the number of pins in the connector, connector shape (Oval, I think), and injector size. Hope this helps.
If you are planning any type of modification to the engine, I would strongly suggest using an '89-'93 computer (A9L for manual transmissions is the most common). They are much more forgiving with engine modifications, whereas the '95 is very sensitive to changes from the stock configuration.
