Grinding/Tapping noise under shift
I just had my trans rebuilt and torq. converter replaced because I thought the problem was with the trans.
My truck makes a loud harsh sounding grind/flutter noise when it shifts (only does it when I set my diablosport to 80hp and above tune). I thought for sure it was in the tranny or something because it only likes to do this when its shifting.
It seems like it wants to do it the loudest when I am on the throttle hard, and when its about to shift, I let off it. This is when it makes this grind/tap/crunch noise the worst.... It is so hard to describe, as I have never heard anything like it before...
Any ideas?
Truck is early 99, 250k miles, auto trans.
to me it just really sounds like something trans related, more like a gear grind, but since the trans was just rebuilt.... I'm not sure
actually... the more I think about it, I don't think it could be the turbo, otherwise the truck would do this all the time (no matter if i have it on "tow tune" or "85 hp tune") cause my truck boosts the same amount... around 20lbs.
If it was the turbo, I would expect it to do the same when letting off @ 20 lbs on the tow tune, just the same as if I let off @ 20lbs in the 85hp tune. Whereas, my truck only does this on the 85+ hp tunes.
