EDIT Anyone want to take bets on how long it will be until Pro has fun with my last statement?
I Give him 2 hrs, if he makes it that long.
It's been awhile since I've been active in the Off Road forum. Man you guys' rigs have changed. As always, great info, and great humor, this is why I like this forum.
To boldly go where no man has gone before . . . EDIT Anyone want to take bets on how long it will be until Pro has fun with my last statement?
Nope, no wisecrackin from me. Both my dogs still have limps from last time he was up and boldly went where no man has gone before, and seeing as he's coming up again soon I want to stay on his good side.
Took me about thirty minutes, I must be losing my touch

Geez Mark, I've got no clue to be honest with you. I never checked it before I started the suspension work. Once I built the new front hangers it decreased my caster angle but I don't know how much. I do know that I was pretty close to 0 though, with the dropped hangers and extended shackles. It still steered fine and had no problems but it didn't leave me any room to turn that pinion up.
Re: Hydro-assist . . . On the tie rid I made a fixture that mounts with u-bolts so I can move/adjust it if I need to. These are the same u-bolts I took off of the steering dampener. I'll probably throw a tiny bead on the tie rod on either side of the u-bolts to prevent them from sliding under pressure.
So I was reading through this and came across this post about the mount I made for the hydro on the tie rod. My advice is don't do as I did. Those bolts ended up shearing and it was a little messy, they just can't handle that kind of load. Here's the rusty mess I came up with, welded straight to the tie rod:
Btw, an update on the caster, 6º seems to be perfect. The truck handles awesome and rides very smooth. I still want to take it to an alignment shop to get everything checked out on the machine but it seems to be pretty dead on in terms of staying in the lane without wandering, steering corrects itself when I come out of a turn, etc. My front driveshaft is working but is at the max operating angle. I plan to have a new one built or at least have a new CV put on my current shaft in the next couple weeks. If I cruise with the hubs locked I can hear the CV ticking as I go over bumps in the road. It's right on the verge of binding.
