E40D Interchange

I know the E40D is computer controlled i was wandering if they interhange, i have a E40D that is out of a 93 with a 5.0L and want to put it in a 91 with a 4.9L, will the computers get along? thanx for any help.

I don't have the answer to your specific question but can answer "will the computers get along" part. The E4OD trans doesn't have an internal computer. Your PCM, Powertrain Control Module, I.E. the engine computer, tells the E4od what to do. I suppose if the electrical connectors were the same there is a good likelihood it would work. It depends on what internal differences there are between a V8 and I6 E4OD's, if any. Hopefully someone can answer that question for you.

Thanx for the info i guess i will just have to check it out and see if they will plug in to each other. That is the main thing i was worried about is the computers in the truck being different, kinda like the tachs if you plug an 8cyl tach on a 6cyl is off by 25% i don't want my tranny to think its turning 25% less RPMs than it is.
