LAST EDITED ON 12-Mar-01 AT 02:25 PM (EST)[p]The "Snow Fighter" version had a TTB 50, also. Whether the SF came in 150/250LD, or in which years, I don't know.
I know that when I was sourcing parts for overhauling my F-150 D44TTB, I was one numeral off on the Dana "Bill of Materials" number and the sales guy told me I had a SF D50TTB.
Pastmaster Friend is right I have one it is in a 86 sc 4x4 F250 with a diesel also has full floating 10.25 rear it has the same hubs and rotors as a dana 60 but is split in the middle.

Dana 50's do exist, also there are Dana 51's as well as Dana 61's too! It blew my mind as well but I had the Dana/Spicer parts book open in front of me ....just need a bill of materials number and can tell/sell you anything you want...

According to the Haynes Manual(1980-1995 Pickups and Bronco...) I have says that there were 4 different available front drive axles available. Dana 44 IFS(Independent Front Suspension) on Broonco and F150. Dana 44-IFS-HA on some F250. Dana 50-IFS on F250 and F350. And finally Dana60 Monobeam on F350. Supposedly there is a rating plate that describes the axle in the engine compartment.
According to the book, all IFS axles are similar. The 44 IFS was supplied with coil springs. The 44IFS and 50IFS were supplied with leaf springs. The 60 monobeam was a solid axle, "Mechanically" identical to a Dana 60 rear axle.
Manual and Automatic locking hubs were supposedly avaialbel on most axles. From the look of the owners manual there appeared to a jillion possible combinations but in genreal the F250 and 350 usually came with manual hubs since I think the manula said the heavier truck needed the heavier duty manual hubs.
There were a lot of possible rear axle combos avaialbe also, but I think the original question was about front axles.
Hope this helps,

Not an expert, just read this stuff.
My 1994 F250 XL 4x4 has a Dana 50 TTB in front w/ manual hubs. My older F150 had the Dana 44 TTB in front. The difference between the two is significant. I also have the 10.25" rear end w/ 4.10 gears. I have read that this setup was considered "Heavy Duty" in 1994.
The dana 50 and dana 44 TTB are realatively the same both differentials use 30 spline 1.31" Dana 44 axle shafts, the 50 has the same axle joints as the ford dana 60 and the same outer shafts. The ring gear on a 50 is larger but the housing is the same. i blew up my dana 50 when the rol pin holding the spider gear shaft fell out while cruising on a montana highway. the shaft locked up the ring gear and stopped me on the ice, damn near flipped. quality enginering bolt to roll pin. LOL I got a lift with a rancher who by chance had an old 1/2 ton in his field with 3.55 ratio. amazingly enough it all slid together for 20 bucks and 2 hours in his barn i was off an running.
Definitely a Dana50. We have one for sale actually since we are swapping out the 50 with a 60. I thought the 50 was a heavy duty unit, but the 60 makes it look light duty.
If anyone is interested in the axle, it can be found at: http://classifieds.excite.com/cgi-cls/ad*****?P1+C239+R118252 or just contact me through email.
When I took my '90 F-250HD 4x to the shop to put in 4:10's, I thought I had the Dana 50TTB... But when I got back to pick it up, my mechanic said the truck had a Dana 44HD front end, and showed me the new parts boxes and list to prove it (not that I didn't believe him). Surprised me with that info. Just to be sure, I checked a bunch of manuals (forgot which ones) which confirmed his info. The rear end is a full floater 10.25.
