I'd like to start planning some off-road trips for this summer and I'm hoping that some of you Wisconsin Chapter members will join us.
The place we go is about 10 miles East of Lakewood and 30 miles northwest of Crivitz. It has camping with elec. & water sites, and non-elec./water sites as well. There's also a general store and toilet/shower facilities. The trails provide something for everyone, mud holes, hill climbs, rock climbs, etc... The campground is located less than a mile from the pipeline, which can be a whole day of wheeling by itself. I believe rates are $18/night for the elec. sites, but I'll have to check.
Memorial day weekend is the traditional "opening weekend" for most, and I'll definately be going again this year.
I plan to make at least two trips there before Memorial day. One with the ATVs so I can map the trails with a GPS, and one (if not two) with the truck for a "test run".
If anyone has any questions or is interested in joining us, please let me know.
I'd love to go, it sounds like it'll be tons of fun. I had a bad experience on the Pipeline over Labor Day weekend. I don't think I'll ever go back. Lets just say I had water up to my dash and a locked up engine. I'm not sure exactly where we were, someplace west of Crivitz just off of County W, just passed the road that goes to Camp Bird. Other than that part I had lots and lots of fun. Throw some mud for me!
kj- We are up for a run to the Campground. How about April 29, 30 and may 1st. Its a friday to sunday. We made a run earlier this month to the badlands and are heading to Cliffs Insane in N IL on good friday. So we should be ready to head north in April. Would that work for you?
ok yeah thats one part of the state i havent been in and remember much. because of my dear mother, where there is a lighthouse i have been there (for the most part). i wont complain cause i have learned much about the history of them
I should be up there on Memorial day weekend, but without my truck I will be there with Mudslingers Inc. and so far looks like just a 79 Bronco and a IH Scout.
I just talked to my cousin about Memorial Day and we are in sites 47 & 48 (which are behind the bathrooms). We only have 2-3 trucks but usually hook up with some friends from Appleton and all go out together. You're welcome to join us if you'd like.
