Good for you for telling them no tot he truck but too bad the dealer that took delivery of the vehicle did not get your business. Sounds like they shot straight with you by returning your deposit. Hope you enjoy whatever you end up with.
You make a good point. These trucks are like houses. Just because they are new does not mean yous hould accept that all is well right off the bat. Inspctions are a good idea. Makes you wonder what other corners amy have been cut on that truck.
I rejected my first 05 250 I ordered Nov 30 for a damaged front bumper and poor paint job on the rear panels...They wanted to sand and repaint I said no thanks Reordered in Jan. Due in this week. Good thing I am not in a rush. I had to point it out to them. They even send the damaged truck out for a spray in liner the same day it arrived !!!! and didn't see it or hoped it would go away or that I would not notice....I agree inspect and drive. AND NEVER TAKE DELIVERY ON A RAINY DAY HIDES EVERYTHING
I rejected a 04 350sc I ordered last year. The doors did not close right, cab and bed were twisted and front fenders had over 3/4 inch gaps at the bottom of the A pillers.
The dealer just keep it and sold it to sombody else. This is one reason why I will not order a truck because the quality is not consistant. I agree with eight302 inspect and drive it as much as possible before you sign for it. You can't return these things like a pair of pants.
Do you think that there truely are that many trucks leaving Ford plant with "things" wrong? I know they have quotas to meet, bla, bla, ... and they're trying to cut expenses, but come on not at the expense of the customer.
I mean what kind of executive mentality do they have. I know they live my marketing research, but you can die by it too.
Oh well, kinda scary though, especially since I'm thinking of buying an F150.
I've owned 2 Toyotas, made in Japan - one I put 335,000 miles on it without any problems, and I've got 75,000 on the present one - no problems. However, the Tundra just doesn't "physically" stack up with Ford.
grey77, Be careful when shopping. In 8-04 I went to the Ford dearlership to look at two F150's that had just came off the delivery truck. One was white and one was black.I was mostly interested in the white one because of having black in the past. They had same options, just different color. When looking over the white one, I noticed the bottom of the drivers door stuck out about a 1/2-3/4 inch from the rest of the body.Needless to say they probably could have fixed it, but what other damage could have ocurred during repair.Why/how did this truck ever get out of the Ford plant.Someone else probably bought it without noticing it.I bought the black beauty.Beware and Good Luck!
