IDM questions

I have read a few times that the "early" IDM's are the better ones.

First off, what makes them better????

Second, can I assume that by early they ment the OBS trucks, and are the IDM's interchangable between the OBS's and the SD???

I have seen a few sig's with the Joe Servo IDM's, just wondering what there all about, and what they do different to them???

Quad, you know, DP, now that your here, do you know???

im not sure about the differnce between the older idms and the newer ones, i know there were changes made to accomidate the split shot injectors. other than that i dunno

the joe servo modded idm is where a couple parts are changed in the idm to permit higher voltage to injectors. kicks it to the 140vdc range from 115vdc. with the higher voltage the amperage is lower to fire the injector so you get a smoother longer shot on the injectors than stock. you wont notice a whole lot with stock injectors but ya do a little. with the injectors im runnin there is a huge differnce.

Yea I remember reading about the higher voltage thing now that you mention it.

I was hopeing that jody would answer. I am sure he knows, I have been podering getting one, just wanted to know it it was worth the money.

Jake what are you running for injectors. or is it secret. I just saw another post where you referenced you bigger injectors. I dont remember you putting them in. how are you liking them???

I think it is legal to hyjack one's own thread for a lil bit.

what i have in there is a prototype from a local injection shop, all i can say is they flow about 250mm. and they smoke a luk clutch. gotta get the southbend con o or ofe in there. gotta take it easy on them right now, runnin a chip from the same guy. had the turbo milled out to flow more, its a little more laggy but since im having to work out of this truck primarily right now, going with the h2e is out of reach right now. had to mill the housin to flow a little more to burn that fuel.

think im gonna back them down though. this guy wants to push for more power. it would be fine with me if i didnt have to tow my horse trailer with this truck anymore but i still do. thinkin beans performance stage 1 or 2 or swamps babies or 175's

think if im gonna go with the 2's or 175s i think i would go with the BDP 2's
having a toss up between the smaller injectors though. was gonna buy a new class 8 single axle semi with a sleeper to tow my trailer but trying to push some money around before that so the F250 will still see that duty for another year give or take. with the 2's or 175's i would need to go with more turbo to drive enough air to burn that extra fuel. the H2e is top of list but there are lots more turbos in the skunkworks right now for the OBS trucks. lookin at possibility of ball bearing, but that will limit me going any further than the 175's or 2's they cant flow enough. i still want a truck that can be a reliable daily driver just more fun......
easier on my wallet that way

The pre '01 IDM's box color is silver and the post '01 is black, with a slight HP gain. That is mainly all the difference is unless you get the modded ones.

According to Ohms law if you increase the voltage without increasing resistance you also increase the amps.
