Now i set both to lock and set 4x4 high in the tcase via push button. now only the passengers side wheel set is engageing when going forward and the drivers side when going backward. not all 4 in one direction at one time. is this common?
or did i just install my hub wrong on the drivers side?
More precise passenger side 2 wheels foward driver side 2 wheels backward.
i went & dl a new set of instructions to follow and went through them as they said
You can lock hubs all day long. If the differential is open only one wheel on the front axle and one wheel on the rear axle are going to pull. Check the door jamb sticker and see what axle code you have. Look on the tech page for Ford axle codes and it will tell you what you have. You probably installed the hubs correctly. Just confirm that your differentials are not limited slip.
You can change to limited slip. You can have other types of lockers installed also. You should choose the option that best fits your use. Are you on the highway most of the time? What is the percentage and degree of off-roading you are going to do? What gear ratio did you discover that you had?
Take a look at the 4x4-offroad forum also. Those guys have a lot of useful information. I use 4WD daily in the course of work. It is a requirement of my job to be in the "sticks and mud". Where are you moving to?
