i'd like to know if it would be possible to cut the cab/front clip down the middle and add about 6-8 inches of sheet metal in there. i'd like to fit an old body on a new superduty frame but its too narrow and the wheels would stick way out. let me know ifthis would be possible
Any thing is possible if you have the money, time and skills. If you do decide to do this project please post pics. Would love to see finished product. Really good idea for project.
Like 402 said, anything is possible, but it would be an enormous task. By enormous I mean Gigantic to the 10th power. I am not a math wiz, but I am betting that means a lot of work. Before I would consider widening the old body, I would play with wheel offsets on the frame side of the superduty (even swapping new diffs in) and moving of the mounting points of the old truck body.
I had a friend did the opposite with an old MACK truck cab. Mounted it on an F250 frame. Had to cut several inces out of it right down the middle. Was really sweet when done, but it was a HUGE job.
Just Better make sure you are decitated enough. I saw a van put on a Bronco chassis for sale on Ebay. Looked like crap, and I doubt he'll get any bids.
