Ok guys here it goes i have a 97 F250 PSD and when i went out to start her all i got was a click. all the lights work so i got out my charger and tryed to boost her did not work then i put my old 85 F250 on her and got her started. so i drove her to walmart and had both batterys checked out both checked fine but i did get them to replace both so now i have two new batterys but she did it again this time after getting mad and trying the key again and again she started. now today when i started her she started just fine but the amp show low and when she started i watched the amps and she danced before stoping and staying at over halfway. ok so what do you think it is.
My amp gauge reads low until the glow plug cycle is complete (approx. 2 minutes). First off, it sounds as if your alternator/regulator is the culprit. I don't know how to check that without pulling the battery leads off and checking w/meter. Besides that, I'd check for corrosion on your starter leads. Then check the Glow plug relay (look for brown/reddish color on the terminals). I'd also check the ground leads on the vehicle side. Hopefully someone else with more mech experience will chime in.
well i just got the bad news that it is my starter so $547.78 later i was pulling it out of the shop and the new starter would not stop running so back in the shop it goes boy this really sucks!!!
Ive had starter problems in the past, The shop must have charged list plus markup Ive bought new for 400 and reman for 250 The install on my 95 is about 15 min.
