Well got the old windshield replaced. Now I am looking at doing a trans kit on my truck. Was wondering if anyone has used the Transgo shift kit and if they are any good? I was watching a truck show on tv last week and they put in a kit (not sure what brand) thinking it was a bully dog kit and it got my attention. Dam I wish I would have wrote it down, anyway all your thoughts on which kit to get would be a great help
If that was Trucks, they put in a Sonnex/Tricumulator valve and springs kit. Its a great upgrade, firmer shifts and it increases preasure to the clutches, so it helps out with any slipping. blackclouddiesel sells the for $50 shipped, thats were I got mine. the Ford one is much easier than the allison one they did on TV, no drilling or anything.
Ordered the sonnax kit today, hope its easy to install, doesnt look to bad. Anyone know how they are on shipping (quick/slow)? ordered it from black cloud
I'm running a superchip 1705 on safe tow mode. Does anybody know if it adjusts the trans pressure or anything else? I've been wanting to put a trans shift kit in like your talking about but didn't know if it would be hardful to the trans with the superchip. I guess what I'm trying to ask is would the two be a double whammy on the weak E40D?
I don't have an answer to your specific question, oldbird. But I will say that it is wise of you to ask the question before making the jump.
I installed the Factory Tech accumulator valve body - which is similar to some of the shift kits mentioned here, but includes a new valve body with different springs, etc. already installed. Factory Tech specifically states their accumulator should not be combined with increased line pressure from a tuner. They say that if you use a tuner, make sure it uses stock trans line pressures.
Before you add a shift kit, make sure it is compatible with increased line pressures OR that you are not doubling up shift kit with increased line pressures. Check with the manufacturer.
