I have a 2000 CC 5.4 SD and I am having that nice Rotten Egg smell. I know its associated with the catylitic converter but does that mean it is clogged or it is clogging? Should I remove it all toghether and put in a high flow when its time for Emissions or are there any gas additives for Cats? I am running 1 3" Flowmaster with a single forward right wheel tailpipe.
do you have a miss fire, vac leak or a bad o2 senser? rotten egg smell is from a over rich mixture. pull the codes time. good luck man do not loose the cat . fix it correctly
I dont seem to have a misfire and I am not getting any codes. The only code im getting is a P1000 for OBD Readyness test. I am running a predater power programer ill mess with the timing a little bit.
if the Preditor was recenly added or changed it may be from the operator trying it out a bit . what is the point of having a toy and not playing with it?

You Called IT! I have been messin around with the programer, trying different timing adjustments to get the most out of my fuel. I am not concerned with the performance right now. Im just trying to make 87 last as long as 93. I am a firm believer though that when you have better performance the engine wont work as hard and gas will last longer. Unless you have fuel pouring out of the exhaust. I still cant figure out the rotten egg smell.
dump the chip. sorry but try it without and see if the smell goes away then deside for your self . i do not beleive in programers and have much better luck with plain old chips.
Rotten egg smell can come from H2S (hydrogen sulfide). The sulfur in an organic form in the gasoline or diesel fuel will react to H2S. It doesn't take much H2S (miniscule will do) to smell what your smelling. Also the smell your smell and mine comes from the sulfurous molecules in our foods that get emmitted out of the exhaust. No not the trucks!!!
