Brought my RV home from the service dealer today . My problem started when I tried putting the RV in its place next to my shed . The ground is pretty soft and the camper truck combo wieght is 17,000 lbs . It is down a slight hill all the way to the spot . Wheels were spinning when I met the bump up to the platform were the camper sits . So I stopped to put in 4x4 low . Rear wheels were spinning and the front wheels were not . I even tried unhooking from the camper to get out and the truck would not come out of the spot it was in . I cant understand why the rear wheels would spin without the front wheels turning too . If I gave it enough revs the front would spin too . Do I have a problem here or am I doing something wrong . It is a 2004 250 Lariet with the FX4 .
It is possible that your 4x4 is not engaging. Is this happening in low or high mode? Remember that if you put it in low, you must be stopped, put it in neutral with the break applied and then activate the low 4x4.
If it doesn't engage, you can go to the front wheels and lock in the 4x4 manualy by turning the hub off of auto.
You need to move a few feet before the auto hubs lock in. If you are stuck and cant move the few feet needed, you have the option to manually lock in your hubs by turning the hub dials on the front wheels. Just make sure that you unlock them after you disengauge the 4x4 so you will be back in the unlock mode.
That's why I think there may be a problem . I did lock them in manually and the rear wheels was spinning . The front wheels would only spin when I picked up the RPM's . Is that normally how the 4-wheel drive works . I was not able to move the few feet needed so maybe thats the problem . I'll tell ya , once you fill the tire tread of these stock BFG's with wet mud it's like being on ice . I did get out with the use of a few pieces of wood .
