i have a 1970-1972 (not sure) ford F250 ranger xlt camper special 2wd but the xlt on it is different than anyother i have ever seen it is about an inch thick off the body and 2 or 3 inches in width and it has wood grain in the metal do i have a real find or is it just a wierd xlt??
My '72 F250 4x2 has the wood 4" high side moldings. I beleve it was the stardard XLT side trim of the time. I think only the "sport" had the skinny w/black side molding. Not sure of the 4" high black side molding.
All I do know is it is expensive to replace. About $600 from the parts mags.
Its all faded but you can see my trim in my galary.

From 70-72 they used a "XLT" emblem besides the Ranger emblem on the rear bed panels only, unless it was a F-350, which had it on the front fenders behind the wheel. It's part number D0TZ 9925622-B. If yours is anywhere but the bed, being an F-250, it was obviously added.I ran the number on the locator and if anyone wants some Brand new NOS ones, Wesley Obs., Liberty, Ky 1-606-787-5293 shows they have 2.
I own several C/S Ranger XLT's (2+'71&'72) They came with a stock color of Red, White, and Blue. But the dash insert is woodgrain but may be black and runs bout $100.
I have been very fortunate to find these trucks in excellent condition with no bondo. I might add that there are probably more than 700,000 miles driven between three trucks!! Time for some R & R
