Hummmmmm! Shimmering!

Well today my truck started Shaking Shimmering Shuttering at low speeds like taking off and or braking and even when fully cranked baking up.

Since I had the 6" Suspension Lift installed I wonder if I need to get the 6% Pinion Angle Shim kit?

6% due to 6" Suspension and 3" body Lift!

Feedback required LOL!

I found the 6% kit for 10.00 a pair!

I would give your lift manufacturer a call on Monday. We could speculate on whether or not you would need one (I am inclined to say yes), but the manufacturer should have procedural notes for effects with their lifts. If you are running the stock pinion angle, you are probably binding those joints quite severely.

There were no changes to that area what so ever when the lift was installed. The mechanic that installed the lift immediately said (tonight) that was what the problem is. I am buying the Pinion Angle Shim kit tomorrow and it will be installed Monday. He said it would be OK to drive it but limit the driving as much as possible to make sure not to Thrash the U-Joints.

I am no mechanic but it sure ruined my day LOL! Just started this evening!

I agree 100%!

He said it never crossed his mind at the time to even visually check the angle. From the research I have done tonight that is probably what my problem is and maybe it took a week or so to start feeling the effects from it being that far off.

Again, I am no mechanic but I do NOT want to spend TONs more money on the lift aspects of this truck. If I need the angle corrected I will do whatever it takes LOL!

Did you have to lengthen your driveshaft for the 6" lift? I know on some older Fords, anything above 4" of lift, and you needed a custom drive shaft.

As far as I know there where no changes required to anything. We all 3 sat and read through the instructions and made sure we had a game plan. I guess we overlooked the angle prob but it can be easily corrected. I sent an email to the company I bought the lift from off eBay to see what they think. I am also going to call Pro Comp tech Support and see if they have any ideas.

If you knew length of stock yoke you should be able to measure and get an idea if you are in far enough.I would want to allow plenty of insertion for twisting and climbing etc.WheelMA1 is exactly right about older Ford lifts.I would think things would be similar for new models.Good Luck!

Thank GOD I decided to get second opinion!!!!

As it turned out I did not require the Pinion Angle Shim kit. They checked the degree and it was almost right on the money!

What it did turn out to be was: They forgot to hook the Vaccuum lines back up for the 4x4 system or something like that. The lines were to short once the lift was done and they forgot to get some connectors and tubing.

I went to NAPA and spent $6.99 and hooked them up and engaged/disengaged the 4x4 and wallllllla it is fixed. They suspect it got locked into 4 wheel drive some how last night. As simple as it sounds it was killing me not knowing what was up with BLKBUTY!

OMG I feel much better today ! (LOL)
