I see an 04 SCAB 8' bed every day in my driveway. I love the truck and it tows great.

As for the original question here is the math.

Truck weight empty - 6000 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating - 8200 lbs
Gross Combined Weight Rating - 15,300 lbs

Max trailer weight with truck empty is 9300 lbs.

Here is where it gets tricky.

Add 2200 lbs of payload to the truck and max trailer weight is zero, remember that trailer tongue weight is part of your payload and at the recommended 10%, to tow a 5000# trailer you payload capacity is only 1700 lbs. Your GCW for this case is only 12,700 lbs and your maxed.

I remember seeing your gallery before, just couldn't remember who you were. Nothing like some good pics to show what we are talking about.
Looks like you went to Goodyear Wrangler MT's when you put on the new wheels. Do you think they are better than the BFG's?

As you so nicely illustrate this business of safe load determination is more complex than most people think. At one time very few people gave it a lot of thought. Now, at least in this part of the world, it is not uncommon to see mobile weight checks of RV's by the police. From what I hear it is most often the rear axle rating that is exceeded. Many a holiday spoiled this way!

The tires are BFGs Mud Terrians and they are great. I had to take them off for the winter as they suck in the snow. The stock generals are adequate in the small amount of snow here in CT.

As a transplanted Canadian I understand the weight checks. Gotta love those Mounties

You tricked me by mounting the tires with the white letters on the inside. Now that I look more closely at your pics I can see the BFG tread and sidewall pattern.

I have the All Terrain TA's and although they have the snow tire symbol on them I am not sure I like the way they react on ice. Otherwise they are a good all around tire.
