I have a perfectly good 88 F-250 with a shot 351W. I have a
great running 302 in a shot 84 Lincoln. Can I put the 302 in the F-250? I entend to haul no more than a 12ft jon boat in back. Thank you for any responce.
Hi, welcome to the boards. Your 302 will fit right in the only problem you will run into is with the computer, and maybe the location of the fuel injection. The lincoln computer might change right over but I don't know. You could have to relocate the air box depending on where it is in the lincoln. This swap is very doable. might be easier to find a junker with a 302 and get the injection and computer. John
save yourself a lot of headaches and sell the 302, rebuild the 351 with the proceeds from the 302 helping to pay for it.
most swappers are going from smaller to larger. success leaves clues!

So far it's a go!
IT should swap in fine. Since all your hauling is a small boat, the 302 should supply adequate power, it will be no speed demon, but good enough. I think 84 lincoln 302s had the CFI fuel injectin, which I would say dump for a 4 barrel carb. That would be a better idea. The CFI was crap.
yep, lucky for you, there were no computer controlled tranmissions then and really no other functions. I say you might want to keep it in the truck, but just not used. You never know when it may become handy again.
