Hey all. I live in southeaster MA so im literally surrounded by cranberry bogs! I couldnt picture not living by them.but when i talk to friends out of state and such no one even knows what a cranberry bog is! one of my fathers friends,no lie,who lives in Texas thought cranberrys grew on a tree! Anyway, how many of you actually know what a cranberry bog is?!?
I've seen pictures of cranberries being harvested, so I knew that's the way they grew but I've never seen a cranberry bog in person. None around here, that's for sure! We grow grapes and walnuts as our biggest crops in this county, in the northern Sacramento Valley, one of the biggest crops is rice. In the whole state, I think the biggest crop is...flakes! -TD
We have them in northern wisconsin. They have a huge festival there every year. Its in a tiny town called warrens. normal population 3000. On the festival weekend they get about 100,000 people there. Its completely nuts.
We have them out here out on the coast of Washington State too. Never even crossed my mind that some would think they grew on trees...but I can see why some people would think that
My neighbor has a rather large cranberry bog he started a few years back. Nothing is tastier than fresh cranberries on pancakes with some maple syrup...mmmmm.
