rear main/ no engine out
hey guys ive got a 85 100 4x4 with a 460 and i need to know if i can do the rear main seal without pulling the motor out.One mate says i can jack the chassis to give the front diff full travel then undo the sump bolts and slide the sump out backwards.the only problem is that ive only got about 2-3cms between the sump and the chassis brace(above the diff)i just read that you can remove the factory rivets and replace them with a suitable sized nut & bolt is this what i need to do??to give me the clearance i need to slide the sump out backwards.if anyone has done this job (im sure someone has)without removing the motor PLEASE reply cos im dreading pulling the motor out.
