I had the same code 27 in my 99 F250. The code 27 means the lightbulb in the passenger shut off is burnt out. At the factory ford decided to put 12 volts to a 3-4 volt light bulb. Use this link to fix your problem.

email me Mule@jg51.org and ill send you a photo of the finished fix. Also you need to take out your stereo, I used two welding rods bent in a u shape. incerted them in the four holes on either side of the stereo put light pressure outwards and pull the stereo out.

I had the same problem on my 1999 F-250 V-10 4x4. I had a friend who could get it to the dealer to have the code checked. It was free for me but usually $80.00. Turned out to be the bulb in the passanger side air bag mod. Problem with that was they don't sell just the bulb for that. I had to buy a resister that had the bulb in it. It's an easy fix, pull out the old, where the passanger air bag switch is, bring to dealer and get a new one. It plugs right in. The resister was about $80.00 I was told the dealer would have charged me over $300.00 to do the same thing.
Good luck with it, Bob
I just want to know why?

The key light on my 99 was blinking and they put in a new key switch.

I bought an expedition without the drivers seat that has the air bag in it. Without the air bag, the code was set, and displayed. I now have a seat without the airbag, but it has the resistor to simulate it with the seat, and I plugged the connector into it. Light still on. Disconnected the battery, but still on. In the factory service manual, it says to use the scanner to reset codes, or turn the key on/off 128 times. Did it 140 times (without starting engine) and it still comes on. Should I try resetting the codes with the scanner? Don't have one, but can get access to it...
