a friend of mine is stupidly wanting to put a 305 out of a chebbie van in a 73 f250 pickup truck. what do i have to do to help him in his endeavor. o and i already tried to convince him otherwize. you guys let me know what i got to do to asist him.
Not only is it a chebby, it's one of the worst V8's they ever made. The best thing you could do to help him would be to steal the truck when he isn't looking so he can't ruin it with that terrible plan of his.
its a sad situation. a good truck ruined with a 305 V8 chebbie engine. he is determined to do it. he has been babbling about doing it since we went to a truck show where this guy had a nice 79 f250 4x4 with a 454 chebbie V8 Big Block. truly this is a sad situation.
again i agree with everyone. a chebbie engine in a ford is truly a disturbing thought. but he's bound and determined. he said he's spend enough building the engine and he has nothing but the truck to put it in so i guess thats what he's gonna do.
I used to own a restaurant with al the local hot rodders and their 30s Fords...almost all, if not all, had 350s in 'em. The parts availability in general and for the swap are there. Fine with it, I am.
305 and a peanut cam? Yuck.
Go treefitty (350) or 4fitty4. My friend has a 93ish (rounded body) PI CVic with a 454 (carb...ick) on a 1/2-ton 4x4 Chevy frame. Hate him if you must, but he's got a slew of Army duece-and-a-halfs to bite back with....I wish I had the digi cam to take pics when I get out to his land, because he wants to sell that car and get on with his Vette and the 50s Cheb trucks he just got....lucky sob.
If you're truly a friend you'll not help, but let him struggle on alone with his insanity - no sense being a co-dependent part of the problem. The sooner he hits bottom the quicker he'll look for real help.......lol
Type aftermarket crossmember into any search engine. You should come up with references to companies like Jegs, Summit and a dozen others.
But I have to warn you, the Ford will puke it up - that fine truck has better sense than your friend apparently does.
lmao i told him i ain't gonna help do it he got mad at me and we start fighting. sad situation. o well i bet my 390 will out run him. o and the reason i said i is because i was gonna get paid to help him do it thats why i was doing the reasearch on it. sorry for the confusion if i had ever put a chevy motor in a ford my daddy would kick my a**
I am going to do the opposite,I have a 37 chevy p/u that is going to get a 302 and a AOD. I am sick of looking at chevy motors and I am going to start fighting back,I am thinking about having a fleet of chevys powered with ford motors as I have a rebuilt 460 that I would like to put in a 55-7 chevy shortbed.
