Hello....
I'm not a very experienced machanic, and I have a little problem that has been bugging me for quite a while.
I have an 86 Ford F-150.
fuel injected, 8-cylinder 5.0/302
Here are the symptoms of the problem:
my truck stalls after it warms up. Every time I bring my truck to a stop, I have to keep a little pressure on the accelerator in order to keep it from stalling. The problem seems to get worse when I turn on the air conditioner. The problem seems to get better during the winter. In other words, when it is cooler outside, the truck doesn't seem to want to stall as often. When I turn on the heater, there doesn't seem to be any difference either way.
What I have done: 1) I replaced the EGR valve, I've replaced the PCV valve, I've replaced the vaccume lines, I've replaced the Air by-pass valve, I've replaces the TPS. It seemed to help when I had the fuel injectors cleaned, but not for long.
I'm at a loss, I'd appreciate any advice I can get.
Thanks
firenut
I had a car that did similar things as your truck once, it turned out the crank sensor was bad. The darn thing would go absolutely dead, and if you let it sit for a few minutes it would start and run for a while, then die again. Very frustrating. Anyway, just a thought.
Thanks for the advice. The next two things I'm going to do is change the wires and plugs, and also change the sensor. I appreciate your responses. I'll keep you posted.
