C6?
C6?
Ok, I have a 71 F250 that I want to put a 351W in, but it came with a 360/C6 and odviously I would have to change the tranny.
I picked up a 78 E150 van with a 300 I6 for 50 bucks for the whole van. The transmission in this van does not have a removable bell housing, it is all one unit. Is this a C6? I have been told that if the whole transmission is one piece, with a non removable bell housing that it is a C6. So if I put this 351W in my truck, Could I use this transmission from this van without any problems? The way I understand it 300's, 302's and 351W's have the same bolt pattern.
The van runs terrible, but it does drive. It "bucks" up and down when you put it in gear and try to drive it when it's cold, but when it warms up it drives normal and shifts through all gears fine. I'm guessing that means it needs a new torque converter? The van also has a 9 inch rear. C6/9 inch with a 300 in a van, seems kinda like a odd setup to me.
I'm not new to swapping engines and stuff, but I am new to mixing and matching parts like this. Just trying to get my old truck back on the road again. Thanks!
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I'm a newbie, but I am asking about the transmission.
