no fuel from front tank?

LAST EDITED ON 08-May-01 AT 01:30 AM (EST)[p]I have an 88 F150, I flip the switch to my front tank and drive a couple miles. I start hearing the pump start buzzing then it dies. I switch back to the rear tank and the pump quits down. It then runs fine. Yes the tank is full. It done this before and I flipped the switch a couple times and it started working again. I thought that it was just the electronic valve like my old truck. I crawled under it and could make not make heads or tails as to the problem on that end. A friend suggested to switch out the dash switch itself. I'm stumped. Thanks, you guys here are a big help.

Sounds like one of two things. Either the front pump or the switch. If you say you flip the switch back and forth several times and then the front tank works then I would feel it is in the switch. If it does not work at all when switched on the front tank, then I would say it is the front tank pump. I would check the switch first. It is easy and cheaper than the pump. You might just find a loose wire or something. Wishful thinking. If not, then it sounds like the pump to me. Good luck. Jake.
