D2TE-AA Heads

I picked up the bare castings for $22.50. HEre's what the ad said......

2 (two) FE Ford heads. The heads are bare castings. The valve sizes are 1.84"in and 1.54"ex. The casting numbers are D2TE-AA. According to my AERA cylinder head casting number manual they are off of 58-78 352/360/390/428CID engines. The date codes are 7M1 (Dec 7,67) and 8G10(July 10,68). The heads have been cleaned, magnafluxed for flaws and both are crack free. The heads have hard exhaust seats and fresh deck side surfaces. You may bid with assurance and save. Call (503)810-3920 for any questions or to set a time to inspect the heads before you bid. Will ship worldwide. Bidders that have had negitive feedback within the past year call before bidding. Winning bidder contact me within 24hours after the auction closes. If the terms are not met the heads will be relisted and the appropriate feedback will be left. The cylinder heads are sold as-is where-is with no-warranty or return, I have described the item to the best of my ability. Please take a look at my other auctions items. I try to post new listings daily.

What do y'all think?

Mike

The seller doesn't know squat about FE heads...

If there were pictures of FE heads and you do get FE heads in the mail, at that price, you did well.

First, there ain't NO way a D2TE-AA head was made in '67 or '68 ... The "D2" is a year, specifically, 1972. It was engineered in 1972, how can it be cast in '67 or '68?

Also, the intake valve on an FE is bigger than 2" ... and the exhaust is either 1.560 or 1.650 (CJ) - not 1.54 - that don't sound like no FE head!

Sounds like a small-block.

Well, they could be FT heads he's trying to pass off as FE heads. They have 1.75" intake and 1.5" exhaust valves. I'd make sure though and measure 'em.

For my reference when I meet him to pick them up, what is a major difference between the FT and FE's besides the valve sizes?

Also, there are no valves in them, so what should the seat Dia. be?

They leave in Portland, OR and I just live across the river in WA state. That was basically the only reason I bid on them. I didnt have to pay for shipping....

Thanks all for the info!

If they indeed say D2TE-AA on them, they are '72 and up (hardened exhaust seats) and are probably FE heads.

The FT heads, I think at least some of them, have an exhaust crossover that comes from the exhaust manifold - so, the exhaust side of the head would have a hole in the center between #2 and #3 exhaust ports that crosses over to the intake side and those obviously don't.

You're right, they are FE heads. The valve sizes are 2.02" intake, 1.55" exhaust.

Shows me for not looking at the picture!
