M1 Ammo
My uncle has a M1 from WWII I think. It's a carbine. I just want to know what to buy for the gun (ammo).

If it is the carbine, it uses 30 cal carbine ammo. Any decent gun show in your area, you can get it relatively cheap. It's a fun plinker for me. I like it better than a 22.
If you are not familiar with shooting, I would strongly suggest taking a safety course in your area. You can go out to the NRA website, and they list groups and individuals that give safety course. Another source might be your local police dept.

Yep it uses .30 Carbine, or .30M1. they're both the same thing.
Be sure to check the bore for rust before shooting it. Any obstruction in there will probably destroy the gun.
They are a real fun shooting gun. almost no recoil, and dirt cheap to shoot.

Dont just check, clean the weapon properly and really well before use because it is so old and most likely has not been used in a very long time.

Unfortunately .30 carbine ammo is a little more expensive than most. But, it is fun to shoot.

Before you run a bunch of ammo through this, may I suggest you have it appraised or at least looked at by a military arms dealer?
Original Winchester made M1 carbines can be over $1000 in value.
Any rifle with a verifiable battle history is worth more.
A '60's aftermarket job, which will have cleaning issues worse than the military, is about $250.
Lots of info on this. Just don't wreck a collector's item and be sorry later.
I enjoy my Rock-o-la made carbine when I can, and I hope you enjoy yours as well.
