Well my day started off real good. For anyone that doesnt know what i do for a living, i drive trucks for a construction company. Today i was driving a end dump (tractor and trailer) and was going good. Was on the way back for my 3rd load when i was drivin about 45 and next to a green minivan. I was in the right hand lane and there was a minivan in the left lane. All of a sudden he decided that he wanted to turn right and i plowed into him. Pushed him 200 feet down the highway and spun him 540 degrees. Luckily no one got hurt and his minivan got the worst damage. I bent the bumper and cracked the fiberglass fender and bent the mirror pole! I lost 3 hours in waitin for the police to come and taking a drug test, but it counted towards my hours, so i guess im lucky also.
I am glad that no one was hurt and believe me, it could have been worst if i wasnt unloaded!! I learned a hard lesson today about drivin big rigs! They aint something to play with or try to tangle with. That minivan was totaled when my truck got finished with it. He got the ticket and the police officer sent me on my way.Just glad to say, im still here and safe!!
Ahh the joys of driving a truck. LOL You have to watch them dang 4 wheelers they tend to think of nothing but what they want to do. Not surprised he turned in front of you but surprised there wasn't anyone hurt. Glad to hear you are alright and ready for more. Next time try a ricer for lunch I think the minivan is to heavy to eat in the middle of the day. LOL Hope you have a better day tomorrow there boss.
Jeff, I am happy the you, and the idiot in the minivan came away unharmed. I would hate to think what would have happened had someone been seriously injured.
On another note, I am kidless until saturday, we should get together.
Thanks guys, im still kinda shookin up about it. Keep thinkin how worst it could have turned out. The whole thing happened in a flash. I do remember when he was in a 180 degree turn, him lookin me in the face with that deer in the headlight look. Will never forget that!
Tony you guys were suppose to come over on Monday or Tuesday but we didnt hear from ya. Give me a call anytime!!
Glad you are OK. It is amazing there are not more of this kind of accident with so many people on the phone. Darn driving interrupts my phone conversations.
Jeff, you about lived up to your user name. Glad you are ok and the other fool also. My daughter lives in Michigan and talks about boats and ships on lake Michigan. As in the world of roads there is the issue of right of way. There is also what she calls tonnage rights. In other words a person might have the right of way, but a large ship still has tonnage rights. What it means is you better give the ship the right of way even if legally it is yours cuz it can't stop or turn as easily as a smaller boat. I always try to keep that in mind when dealing with larger vehicles. The fool you ran into didn't even have the right of way. Must have had a brain fog. Take care.
It did go alot better. Had the same truck that was in the accident and she ran like a kitten!! I was more out in the country today but still had to deal with other truck drivers! Alot easier then them 4 wheelers! IM just glad im still here to enjoy the days to come and see my daughter grow up. Could have been alot worst then it was!!
Anyways im just happy to be back to work finally but what a way to come back!!
When I was driving that was my biggest fear, some stupid 4 wheeler doing something stupid and not being able to do anything about it. The wost parts is that I would probly be OK and the other guy would be dead, his fault or not I would have to live with that.
