My 2002 F-350 7.3 with 107k Miles, makes a squealing noise when it almost redlines right before a shift point. I have no clue what this could possibly mean, can anyone help me out?
Could be a leaking intercooler boot. Check and make sure they are seated and tight.
Another possibility is the alternator. My parent's 03 7.3L had a high pitched squeal/howling noise above 2600 rpm's that persisted for a couple of weeks. Turned out the alternator failed and the noise disappeared when they replaced it.
Those are my suggestions. I'm sure there will be more in a bit.
