I'm scared tro death!!

I pick up my new truck tommorow, I'm excited but a bit scared at the same time. I've never spent $40k on a vehichle before nor did I ever plan on it. I barely owe that on my house! Its not that I can't afford it but man this is a lot of money we're talking here. Oh well its only money right? I'll be driving it from NY to Maine so I can give feedback on the truck Sat. Hope I like it

I guess my turn to be scared will come next month. I can't wait!
The way to view it is, yes it's a lot of money, but you get what you pay for. Good luck with the new ride!

Right there with you man... just ran a locate on mine and it should be here in the next few days.... hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised moving from the '97 7.3 to the '05 6.0L, other than the MPG going down not the direction I wanted to go with the current fuel prices.

I imagine they aren't too far off in power since I was running the SCMT on the old truck, so I guess I'll have to get a tuner for this one too.... need more power!

Anybody putting the Tymar's on the '05's?

I'm going for a "93 F150 that I ordered in '93. 5.8L 4x4 short bed. Its been a good truck but it is certainly time for a new one. I figure when I sell the 150 I should get just about enough $ to cover the sales and excise tax......................Damn I hate taxes

I 2nd, 3rd,.... the notion that you'll love your truck. Just read the diesel break in very closely. I don't have a link to it off the top of my head but *think* it is ion the tech folder up top. I followed that as close as I could. My only problem was the "moderate load" the page says to tow around from 1001 to 2000 miles. I never got an answer on what is moderate for a 10k lbs GVRW truck. So I jsut played it safe and still baby it today, ~1975 miles, with the occasional punch it off the line to get the motor goin.

Anyways, just got my first blackstone oil test and at 1350 miles they said my truck was close to the norm, just a tad less wear, then the avg psd they see.

Just look at it this way, you could have saved yourself some serious $$ by going with a lesser truck (gasser etc). In the end your Diesel will outlast the gasser which will justify the extra $.

I plan on getting 10 years out of mine so that makes the price take seem allot less steep. My .02...

Like others have said - baby the new one for the first few hundred miles and vary your speeds. I think resisting the temptation to try dusting other brands until it is somewhat broken in is worth the sacrifice!

The dealer I'm working through ran it to find the truck I spec'd out. Of course late last night I found out that the dealer who has the truck is being an azz about doing a dealer trade... so I might not be getting one
