I own what I am pretty sure now to believe is a 360 FE motor (bloody hell!) after thinking (and buying parts for) a 390. Oh well, more work to do. I know that most of my parts are interchangeable so I'll be aight. I am planning to restore my truck so do you think I should stay with the stock 360?
I see in your profile that your rig is a 4x4. From what I've been able to uncover, Ford only put the 390 in the 2WD mods at that point. Why?, I give up. I guess you'd have to ask someone that was making the decisions back then. As to the 360, I think it's a fantastic motor. I have a ton of raw guts off-road when I need it and can smoke both rear tires on dry pavement when I'm pi**ed at some clown in traffic. Just my opinion, but unless you are looking to race this rig, then the 360 with stock setup is just fine. If you are looking to race, then dump the 300-series altogether and go with something much larger.
