trans slip

Hi, I posted this is the trans section, no response. Can someone here reply??

I'm trying to make it home towing my 5th wheel when I noticed the trans temp higher then usuall (200) and the shifts were hard. I pulled over and used my scanner and got code P1728, trans slippage error. I reset it and keep going and every thing worked fine. The next day it did it again. The third day, no problem. Am I wreaking anything? I drive a 96 PSD 2wd with a E40D with 92K on it. I've put a big cooler on and I run a super chip in safe tow mode, I've only done the normal mods to help stock engine breath better. I'm still 1K miles from home and of course don't want to stop. With this code, does it mean the TC sliped or the trans slipped? How can a guy tell the difference, I don't want to rebuild the trans if it doesn't need it. I've done fluid, filter and flush. I am going to pull the trans anyway to replace the rear main seal that's leaking. I was thinking about putting in a better TC at that time and hoping for the best. Any thoughts from you guys would be appreciated and what kind of TC? Man they are expensive!! It seems I've read somewhere that a TC out of a super duty would work great!?!?

If you have your tuner with ya put the truck back to stock. Less power might help that tranny get home.
