i have a problem with my 1987 ford f-150 i cant start the motor and the motor gives a gasoline smell which could be the problem or what should i start checking
4x4 standard 5.0 i have spark,i disconected a spark and grouded the cable i reconected again and it started but the motor does not run still its kind of un-stabble also i took a spark plug out and it had crude gasoline,do you think the fuel injectors can be dirtty and not closing at time when the engine is shutt off cousing that the truck cant be restartted quickly and i have to wait about 40 minutes to restart the truck ????
thanks so much for your help guys, the main problem was that scince i use this truck just for the deer hunting season the return fuel line was hitted with a rock or mesquite branch and was completley closed not letting the gas to return freely and flodding the engine. MAYBE IN THE NEAR FUTURE SOME ONE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND THIS COMMENT CAN HELP.
and the last cuestion,i know in this truck i have to disconect something to TIME the motor what is this thing and where is this thing located ????????
On most it's called a SPOUT (Spark Output) connector and is located very near the distributor. It could be grey or black, mines grey and when unplugged the computer does not interfere with timing. It is more than likely a plastic jumper plug that jumpers two wires.
