changed My Fuel Filter today

When pushing the new one down in the housing the capped center end of the filter popped out. The filter is open on the end that goes down in the housing, the other end not open, center is made of plastic too. I had to go get another filter out of the shop, and just ease it down in there. Ya'll ever had this happen? I didnt use the filter as i figured it couldnt filter with both ends open,, One end has to be closed off to force fuel thru the filter,, Right? Or does it matter.Didnt look like the lid would seal that end either. Havent thrown the filter in the trash yet, but figured i better check with ya'll to make sure it was junk or not?

Lucky for me I guess LOL...Most times if its going to happen to anyone, its me. Lucked out sharing this with you dude LOL... I would have done what you did and get another too. I would not want to trust things like that at all. For sure with the crud I have seen in the filter housing. here recently I see way too many rocks in it. Little sex stones about 1/8" in size. Sure wouldn't want those any farther into the fuel system, not that I want them at all.

Dude, its snowing big time here. Sunday it was like 87 here, now it will really work hard to get to 33 LOL...Wish I was fishing with you on the Fork...Laterz

It always seems like the "never seen that happen before"kinda stuff always happens to me.From now on i will be way carefull pushing my fuel filters down in the housing. If i remember right the napa filters i used to get had a metal center and no plastic.I got these off of ebay, 12 for 55.00, they have a fram# but have no name on them and come in a plain white box with nothing on it.

On a side note Rowdy,,, Been catching 25-50 a day for the last 2 weeks with temps 50-80*, then couple days ago wind started from the North at 20+ and then today the temps dropped into the 40's. needless to say only caught 4 dinks today,, but seen several GIANTS on beds with your name on them LOL.!

I've seen those filters on ebay...I've been pretty leary about buying them as I'm afraid that they could have inferior properties.

Please keep us posted on how well they work.

I have been using them for a while,, Never had a problem till now. They are a fram filter, has the exact fram # on the filter, just dosent say fram on it.And the price is right for sure,, even if a couple of them pop the center out.
I have been starring at this dam filter trying to decide if it is still usable or not,, Still cant decide but i'm thinking the design of the filter housing is to allow fuel in from the fpr to the outside of the filter and then the fuel must go thru the outside of the filter into the middle and then to the rail and injectors etc. So if the top of the filter has a hole in the middle it seems that fuel would just run around the filter thru the hole in the top, assuming the lid does not seal off, and then inject unfiltered fuel, which i sure dont want.

You know Ford could make the trucks and E's have the full body tilt front end if you ask me, to have a truck tilt the front fenders hood and all forward like the big trucks would be to die for. Certainly would be easier to work on too... Be a neat selling feature for me anyway. That might even be a cool mod on the 10 year old truck I have now Hummm LOL...
