2001 7.3 Auto 4X4 201,500 miles. 100,000 of which running a Hypertech power programmer on stage 3 with firmmer shift. 40,000 miles with slightly larger tires. Had the tranny flushed at 145,000 miles or so that's the only service work. Not complaining about tranny but I would like to get a few more mile out of him. Here's what is taking place. About 2 weeks ago I was pulling my trailer 10,000#s or so like I always do or I shouldn't really, I noticed a differance in the way it was shifting, staying in gear longer than it has in the past. So I took the programmer out and returned it to stock! The truck has had a soft feeling going into T/C lock-up in high gear (overdrive). Well late today the overdrive light started flashing and the T/C doesn't lock -up at all in high gear. Everything shifts fine except overdrive. Actually it shifts better than it ever has before. Here is the questions
1. What could possably be wrong or going bad?
2. If it's something simple like this diode that I keep reading about can that be something my local Mach handle? He said something about a speed sensor!!
3. Is it something that is going to fall apart even if I cobble it back togather in a few weeks?
I took it to my local shop, not Ford, not because I don't trust them, I just don't want it logged into there system. Besides that it would be the first time it would have been in to a Ford Dealership for any service!! The guy I use is a ASE Master and a few of his people are also. They checked for all codes with a Snap-on code reader and only came up with 741 and 743 Electronic failure casued by the T/C not locking up!! The cleared the codes. Drove it all day and it preformed perfectly. Just like brand new. It was 30 degrees cooler today than yesterday!!
I got a hold to BTS and they are going to build mine on the 29th so I hope it last that long.
