I own a 04' F-250 Crew, Super Dudy PSD. My gas mileage really sucks. 25L/100km or 9mpg, which ever you prefer. Any ideas on how to increase the fuel economy without jeapordising the warranty??
Really disappointed first time Ford owner.
PS, I payed almost 60k for the truck, it owes me something....
$60K? I hope they took you out to dinner and at least gave you a reach around. That is a little much. 9 mpg is a little low. What is your vehicle configuration? Is that empty?
Empty, full, trailering two sleds while drag racing a mustang, 160kph on the highway, 100kph with cruise control. It doesn't seem to matter what I am doing. I get no more than 400km on a 100L tank.... What can I do?? 60k Canadian.
9 MPG? Geez that sucks (literally). We are talking miles and not km right? And Gallons and not Litres? I have no idea how to translate so excuse my ignorance.
Have you been to the dealer to report this yet? They should be able to hook it up and run some tests. Maybe something is wrong with the program or something.
The dealership says that there is no problem, this is the mileage to expect. So I told them where to go and found a new dealer to take fuel hauler to.
I would even be happy with 12mpg....I am from Ontario Canada and the price for diesel is about .85/litre or approx $3.40/gallon (canadian funds) I need to get a part time job just to buy fuel...
Even with the hubs locked, I would be very upset to get 9 MPG. That sounds like my old F250 with a 460. What did the new dealer say, or have you been there yet?
Aren't Canadian gallons larger than American gallons? If so that might be part of the "problem". Driving style also plays a big part in fuel consumption. While it's mucho fun to stomp the thin pedal one must eventually pay the piper.
Not sur ehow many miles you have on it...
but give it some time... it goes up...
mine did on my heavier excursion...
I regularly see 15 to 16 mpg around town....
and I DO tend to 'excorsize the demons outta that throttle" many times a day...
wanna make sure it doesn't carbon up on me
I get 15-16mpg City 16-18 mpg HWY usually around 17mpg going 75mph. Worst I have gotton is 13.5 mpg when towing a heavy trailer through town. Driving 65 made a difference too. Was no lower than 17 when keeping my foot out of it. My dad has the same truck as me and he is always a little better as he keeps his foot out of it. I did notice a drop in MPG when the weather got colder. I have 13,000 miles on it now.

glennv : What gears do you have? My 05 gets 18 mpg (Canadian). On the West Coast (Victoria)here diesel is .97 $ a litre. My truck has the 3:73 gears.
3:73 gears. A US gallon is equal to 3.89litres(or something like that) Still, 9mpg is 9mpg or 25L/100km, however you look at it. I have 20,000km (12,000m) on the truck. Is everybody running stock equipment??? Should I look into tweaking the cumputer, can the dealership do a fuel mileage re-flash on the cpu??? Should I go back to driving my Toyota 4runner with a supercharger in it??? Maybe one of those funny looking hybrid cars....
I would for sure check in to a reflash, Every one says if you buy one of these trucks you shouldnt but it for mpg but when you are getting less then half of what some other people are getting i dont care but something is wrong. I wish you all the luck, And make sure to keep in tuch and let us know what is going on with it. And if that dealer tells you nothing is wrong, Go to a differnt one because something is. GOOD LUCK
9 MPG is really bad and there is something wrong. Perhaps a failed injector? Beats me. Mine gets 16.5 to 17.5 and pulling a 10,000 lb 5th wheel is 13mpg
