recently put in a kenwood cd in place of amfm cass and eq combo which, yes was frustrating! and ended up leaving the eq plug out and running all new speaker wires. lo and behold now no dash lights! is it in that plug somehow? and if so which wire?
I would check the fuse box to see if you blew a fuse when you installed. Go back through your wireing and make sure you are grounded correctly. It is common problem to blow a fuse when installing a headunit unless you disconect the battery beforehand.
If so, I think (memory is a litlle fuzzy) that the dash lights might run through that connection. Without a wireing diagram I am not sure what exactly runs through there. I would take a multi-meter to the connection and see if any of the lines are hot when your turn on the headlights then run a jumper to take the EQ out of the loop.
