2nd Fuel Filter?

Is there a 2nd fuel filter? I know that earler EFI trucks had 2 filters but how about a '89 F150 w/302. There is a device called a "Dual Function Reservoir" mounted to the frame that looks like it could have a filter in it. Does anyone know?

I think there is a strainer in there. It was recommended to me to take it out and forget about it by a local Ford mechanic.

There is a strainer on each low pressure pump in each tank. I have never seen the reservoir clog up. I have seen them not properly shift and pump from one tank to the other.

That reservoir was used with a filter element in earlier models. Later models use the replacable canister mounted forward of the inline fuel pump.

I think the resevoirs that had the strainer still had the canister filter. That's how my truck is, at least...

I know about the strainers in each tank, the "Duel Function Reservoir" on my '89 looks like the one on older models and they have a filter inside {Autozone part# FF616} but no parts stores list one for mine. The DFR looks like it has a threaded cup that would hold a filter. If I have time this weekend I'll see if the cup will come off. I do have a problem with the rear tank filling the front and would like to get that fixed also.

I only found one at my local Ford dealer. No aftermarket units available. It was about $100 with tax.

The dual function reservoir has a strainer in it from what I've heard, and there is still the normal fuel filter in-line after the high pressure pump. You don't need the one in the dual function reservoir, the ford mechanic said to just take it out. He also said to make sure to have an o-ring to put back in before you take it apart.
