I live in the kansas city metro area, and have a old ford torsion bar I would like to have the end flattened out for a prybar, as I am removing a lot of concrete this year. I am hoping that an off the wall chance that someone does.
Try going to www.americanfarriers.org ,click on find a farrier, select your state and you will come up with a bunch of names. You might find someone fairly close to you, click on their name and it will give you their phone number. Most of them should be pretty good blacksmiths.
I always thought they just used mass produced horse shoes, never knew they did blacksmithing, thanks. Found two listed that shouldn't be too far away, one in my brothers town (and he has been wanting to learn, so I may have him run it out and watch). A cop friend told me that Missouri city opens in spring and the blacksmith is normally there first to fix things. So I have a few options.
Most of us do use mass produced shoes, but most of us in the American Farriers Association are also blacksmiths. We use mass produced shoes because it is a little easier and quicker, but in special cases we can use handmade shoes.
