My '99 5.4 used a qt every 800 miles. Did it since new, and I sold it with 142K on it.

It always bothered me, but I got to taking extra oil with me everywhere, and just got in the habit of checking it constantly. If I'd forget it'd run a little rough to remind me.

My 6.0 PSD doesn't use any oil between 5K oil changes. 32K on it now and it runs perfectly.

1 qt is normal for vehicles, but mine doesn't burn a drop between 5,000 mile oil changes. I have 31k on the clock too. I've used Mobil 1 0w-20 since I first changed the oil at 500 miles.

I'm with Camaro Dave. Got a '03 SD CC 4X4 LB. Currently with 45K miles. Every 5K miles I drain 6 qts outta the beast and add another 6 qts of motorcraft 5-20. Do all kinds of driving, city, commute, roadtrips and pull a boat most every weekend. Best auto that I've ever owned. (knock on wood)
