I'd like to hear how that 300 runs with two carbs. It looks like nice set up. What else have you done to the engine to help support all that air and fuel? I bet that truck sure moves.
Those look like 600 carbs. Most of the other carbs use center hung floats. A typical dual quad setup only runs on one carb most of the time, so they don't feel over carbed as bad as you would think.
Thanks for the compliments guys. I've been running this set up for about 7 years now. Yes, the intake and valve cover are Clifford pieces, but thats it. The carbs are 390's set up 1 to 1, meaning that I run on both primaries at the same time. The reason I chose this intake was for two reasons, fuel distribution, and the cool factor. The engine has been bored .030", block decked and head shaved. Compression is 10:1. The camshaft is a custom Comp. Cams grind with a 280 duration and a .512 lift. The head has been ported and treated to 1.94 and 1.6 valves topped with Crane roller rockers. The ignition is Holley Annihilator, the headers are form Hedman exiting through 2 1/2 " exhaust. A Holley "blue" fuel pump feeds the beast. The tranny is a top loader 4 spd. from a '65 Mustang. The rear end is a Nodular 9" with 3.89 gears and a Detroit Locker. Cruise at 60 is about 3,000 rpms. The truck has been lowered and a set of custom fabricated ladder bars control the wheel hop. Sorry, no pics of the ladder bars yet. When I get some I'll post them. I don't believe the engine is over carb'd, in fact, according to the spark plugs, the mixture is just about right. The truck is fun to drive and could be driven daily if needed. I get about 11 mpg on a good day, but if I play then its closer to 7-8.
