Does anybody know where I can find parts to install an ABS system in a non-abs car? I need the wheel speed sensors, the computer unit and valves, i think. Thanks.
You're much better off trading on an ABS equipped vehicle. You'll need the ABS hydraulic unit, brake tubes, ECU, sensors, tonewheels (some integral with hubs), various relays, warning light and lots of different wiring. The sensor signals are fairly susceptible to RFI interference, so the wiring has to be done right for it to work well. Sometimes the booster/master cylinder is different. Steering knuckles and rear brakes will have to change for sensor mounting bosses. I wouldn't recommend a retro-fit.
I am well aware of the time and effort that would be involved in this project, and I'm well versed in both electronics and interference. I just need to know where to get the parts.
Hey luvusa, let me know how it goes. My email is below. I'm planning on putting abs on my 83 f150 once I get a few other things done. Do you have to have 4 wheel disc brakes for 4 wheel abs?
