locker Q's

I'm in the process of building up my 79 bronco just put a superlift 6in lift on, 38 TSL SX's, and swapped in a 205 in place of the 203, I want to put a locker in the rear end (Detroit) but their so friggin expensive. Does any one know if the ones on e-bay that are out of race cars will work or is that really hard on them? Or am i better of just buying one new? thanks

Detroits are pretty tough lockers so even buying used they should be fine. However a lot of times by the time you ship them you're not that much cheaper than buying new so check carefully to make sure you know all the details before you bid.

some of the ones used in racing use large bearings that require a special housing..

I picked up a complete 9" third meber. Stronger N case, daytona pinion support, 4.56 gears, detroit locker. It was built by hendrix motorsports. For about $800 to my door off ebay. The chunk was supposedly used for 1 race. It's been in my truck now for over a year with NO problems
